Director, Livestream
About third
Third is a modern-commerce growth company helping brands turn new and emerging platforms into real sales channels.
Our integrated acquisition strategy connects best-in-class teams across TikTok, Whatnot, Meta, Snap, and beyond - eliminating the need to stitch together multiple partners.
Third blends deep niche expertise with modern execution to launch, operate, and scale commerce on new platforms, transforming culture, creators, and content into real product sales.
The Role
We’re looking for a Director, Livestream to lead and scale Third’s livestream commerce business. This role sits at the intersection of commerce strategy, operations, team leadership, and live production, with responsibility for building a high-performing livestream operation that delivers results for our clients and the business.
You’ll lead our livestream team, own staffing and scheduling strategy, drive operational efficiency, and use performance and business data to make decisions about how we deploy our people and resources. You’ll also bring deep knowledge of TikTok Shop and understand what makes a livestream convert - from merchandising and promotional strategy to host selection and real-time optimization.
This is not simply a production leadership role. We’re looking for someone who can run the business behind the streams while continuing to raise the bar on execution.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Livestream Business
- Own the day-to-day operations and performance of Third’s livestream function, including team structure, staffing, resource allocation, and departmental financial performance.
- Translate client goals and broader partnerships into effective livestream strategies, including platform, studio, host, staffing, and production decisions.
- Use business and performance data to identify opportunities to improve revenue, efficiency, and profitability across streams.
- Evaluate emerging livestream platforms, technologies, and operating models and determine where Third should invest.
Build a High-Performing Team
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of senior producers, producers, moderators, and hosts.
- Establish clear ownership and accountability so the right resources are deployed against the right streams.
- Build operating practices that allow the team to scale without unnecessary complexity or last-minute scrambling.
- Balance quality, client needs, team capacity, and economics when making staffing and production decisions.
Own Scheduling & Resource Strategy
- Oversee livestream scheduling and resource allocation across brands, studios, hosts, producers, and moderators.
- Look beyond calendar management to understand the strategy behind each engagement: what the brand is trying to accomplish, where the stream should take place, which talent is best suited for it, and what level of production support is needed.
- Prioritize competing studio and team needs and make sound decisions when resources are constrained.
- Partner with producers and operational support to ensure bookings and logistics are executed accurately.
Drive Livestream Performance
- Bring a strong understanding of what makes live shopping convert, including merchandising, SKU selection, promotional strategy, flash sales, scripting, host performance, and real-time optimization.
- Identify opportunities to simplify production or staffing models while protecting the quality and performance of the stream.
- Establish and monitor the metrics that matter most to livestream performance and use them to continuously improve the business.
- Maintain enough hands-on expertise to step in and produce or moderate a livestream when circumstances require it.
What We’re Looking For
- Direct experience leading successful TikTok Shop Livestream programs; deep TikTok livestream commerce experience is essential.
- Experience producing filmed live shopping content and a strong understanding of livestream production from planning through execution.
- Demonstrated people-management experience, with the ability to lead and develop teams across multiple levels.
- Experience owning or meaningfully contributing to business operations such as staffing, budgeting, resource planning, revenue management, or P&L performance.
- Strong understanding of livestream commerce and the levers that drive conversion and revenue.
- Ability to use data to evaluate performance, identify inefficiencies, and make sound business decisions.
- Strong organizational and scheduling capabilities, particularly in complex environments with competing priorities and changing client needs.
- Experience with additional livestream commerce platforms such as Whatnot, Amazon Live, eBay Live, Meta, or other emerging platforms is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in Los Angeles and provide leadership during occasional evening, weekend, or holiday livestreams as business needs require.
Who You Are
- You’re a strong people leader who knows how to create structure, accountability, and clarity without slowing down a fast-moving team.
- You think like an operator. You naturally look for better ways to staff, schedule, organize, and run the business.
- You understand that great livestream commerce is both creative and commercial — the stream has to be engaging, but it also has to sell.
- You’re comfortable making decisions with imperfect information and adjusting quickly as client needs and priorities change.
- You have strong instincts around what requires additional resources and where a simpler approach can produce the same—or better—result.
- You’re energized by an industry that is still being built and are curious about what’s next, from emerging commerce platforms to AI-powered live experiences.
- You can move between strategy and execution. You’re comfortable discussing revenue and resource allocation one minute and jumping into a live production issue the next.
- You take ownership. When something important needs attention, you make sure it gets handled.
Why This Role Matters
Livestream commerce is evolving quickly, and the opportunity is bigger than simply producing great streams.
We need to build an operation that can scale them profitably.
This role will shape how Third staffs, operates, measures, and grows its livestream business
while helping determine where we place our bets as live commerce continues to evolve.
Location
This role is based onsite in Los Angeles.
Because livestream commerce doesn’t always happen during traditional business hours, this role will require flexibility to support occasional evening, weekend, and holiday streams based on client and business needs.
Compensation
- Base salary: $140,000 - $160,000
- Performance bonus eligibility
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Flexible PTO
- Remote-first work environment with periodic team gatherings
- Access to an industry-leading network across social commerce, creator, and brand marketing
